Android app
Forma Health
Built and maintained the Forma Android app from scratch, integrating data from the Polar 360 smartband to assess workload and recovery and alert players to potential overtraining.
The project
I built Forma’s multi-module Android app from the ground up using Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, and Clean Architecture. The work brought together wearable data, background synchronisation, training information, and medical content in one mobile experience.
Context
Forma Health, supported by 22-time Grand Slam champion Rafael Nadal and his doctor Dr. Ángel Ruiz-Cotorro, is a platform developed by tennis players and medical experts. It's designed to boost athletic performance and reduce injury risk by merging real-time training data with medical knowledge.
My contribution
Designed and implemented Forma’s Android architecture from the ground up, adapting core functionality from iOS.
Integrated Polar SDK for real-time heart rate and performance tracking via Polar 360 wristbands.
Built a scalable data sync pipeline ensuring accurate 24-hour biometric transfer across BLE, Health Connect, and server systems.
Implemented activity detection using continuous heart rate analysis for personalized training insights.
Delivered rich medical content experiences with articles, videos, and interactive charts.
